ERASMUS+ PROJECT ON CURRICULAR BASED OUTDOOR LEARNING
expected outputs
The GOaL project is partnership of four European institutes for higher education and four schools in four different countries: Norway, United Kingdom, Belgium and Italy.
The project objectives are to:
METHODEach HEI will support its partner school in the development of its outdoor practice and the collection of data. Partner schools will test best practices in curricular outdoor learning based on their existing experience. After developing their outdoor learning practices, schools will exchange best practices in order to test the exchangability of outdoor learning activities and also to improve activities.
The main points of what we will do are:
WHAT'S UNIQUE ?Despite international recognition of the benefits of outdoor learning, much work in this area is national in character. Practitioners in different countries have initiated projects that are responsive to the opportunities afforded by the local geographical environment, while each country has culturally-specific approaches to learning outdoors. The diversity of approach and lack of intercultural understanding are significant barriers to the international transfer of knowledge and expertise in curricular outdoor learning, which means that the rich potential for cross-national curricular learning has not yet been exploited.
GOaL's innovation lies in bringing together the knowledge and experience of teachers and HEI practitioners from four different nations - all of which have different geographical, cultural and linguistic contexts, but which have commonalities in terms of school curriculum expectations, the challenge of developing 21st century skills, and the need to ensure inclusive practice - to develop internationally-applicable programmes, guidelines and recommendations for embedding curricular outdoor learning in schools' everyday practice. |
